Unaí - Week 8

Zone Leader Exchange, Baptism in Unaí!

So this again week I honestly don't have a whole lot to say, in general things are going really well and Unaí is progressing.

We had the zone leaders come and spend a couple of days with us helping out with missionary work and giving a few training sessions. We ate like a ton of pizza, and basically just had a blast. We also got a lot of missionary work done.

We scheduled a baptismal date this week with Jaqueline, one of our newer investigators. She couldn't go to church Sunday but we are hoping that that next week it all works out for her to go and that everything runs smoothly until her baptism.

To finish up we had some baptisms here in Unaí.  Vanderlei and Marcos are two investigators that the sisters have and they were baptized this week! 13 year old Marcos asked me to baptize him and that was way cool!

Anyways, that's about it, hope you all have a week of epicness!

Unaí - Week 7

Mountain hike, Juliana, New missionaries!

This week was tiring... but really good with some awesome miracles!

Juliana is a less active member here in the branch and after working with her for several weeks she came to church with her whole family which was really amazing!! We are excited to help her come back strong.

Although attendance at church was down a little last week it is back up this week and we are excited to help the church here grow even more.

Also the other day we decided to climb a mountain! It was cool. Unaí is a city surrounded on pretty much all sides by small mountains so we decided to take one of the trails to the top. That was pretty sweet.

In other news some new missionaries came in this week. We now have Elder Damasceno and Sister Silva with us here in Unaí and they both seem great.

I'd like to say "hi" to the foreign exchange student staying with my family right now who happens to be from Brazil. That's really cool.

Sorry there's so little to report, but I hope you all have an awesome week.

Unaí - Week 6

Baptism!!, Volleyball, Food Miracle!

This week was really good. To start off Elivan got baptized this week which was an awesome experience, it was also my companion's first baptism so definitely very special.

Other than that everything is going really well, we have started waking up at 5:00 a.m. to go to the gym for an hour and then play volleyball afterwards, so that's been a lot of fun, but I am just generally dead tired.

As for a miracle this week we had two that come to mind, the first involving lots of food! Out of nothing Saturday morning after being frustrated because our lunch appointment fell through, a member of the church who doesn't live here anymore knocked on our door with 4 2 ft. sandwiches, 4 liters of yogurt, 2 frozen pizzas, and a bottle of ketchup, it was amazing and we ate like kings that morning.

Our other miracle was pretty cool, we were walking down a street talking and we decided to knock on the next white door that we found, and the cool part was that this door happened to have a huge family behind it who actually invited us in and were interested! We are going to go back and visit them this next week so pray that that goes well.

Love you all so much, hope you all have an amazing week.

Unaí - Week 5

We had an amazing week this week. First of all let me talk about what happened with our Golden Investigator, Elivan!

So it´s 9:13 am, my companion and I are minding our own business reading the missionary manual when we get an unexpected phone call from who we now call "Elivan Retidão". He simply asks us if the 7th is still available for him to get baptized, said that he received an answer and wanted us to visit him that night to explain how the baptism would work. We calmly told him that of course the 7th is open, hung up the phone, and went crazy in our apartment! So he is all ready and we are just incredibly hyped.

On Saturday we had our long awaited talent show which went pretty well. One of the members here actually planned with Elder Lucas´s mom to do a "magic show" and they made two people disappear, and then magically appeared (from the office next to the stage) Elder Lucas´s parents! His reaction was pretty funny. Anyway we all presented our talents and had a good time, unfortunately I was so busy recording everything I didn't even take one picture, but I'll get a picture from one of the members and try to get one sent.

Sunday we had 29 people at church, a good number, and we said goodbye to Elder Lucas today, so for this week I'll be in another trio with my companion, Elder Chaucoski, and Elder Archila because his companion has ended his mission, so that should be fun. I'm excited to see who is going to be the new missionary next week. I'll let you guys know.

For now have an awesome week and enjoy this magical photo of me with the "Elder Wand."

Unaí - Week 4

Sweater bet, Elivan, 31 in attendance!!

Good afternoon everyone! I don't have a whole lot to talk about this week but I'll try to think of something interesting that happened.

Honestly the whole week was just normal work, I bought a new bag, we taught a bunch of people and it was good!

Saturday was annoying and hilarious. Annoying because our lunch appointment fell through and we were left scrambling trying to pull together a lunch for ourselves and we all were pretty down and annoyed. But to get ourselves excited we decided to do a bet. We played a round of cards and whoever lost had to wear a sweater in the blazing heat of Unaí for the rest of the day, my companion ended up losing and that was hilarious.

Sunday we had an attendance of 31 people! It is the most it has been in a long time. 30 was also our goal for July so we are here celebrating. Elivan is doing really well, he continues to go to church but is nervous and doesn't feel ready for baptism yet. Pray for him that he can continue progressing

I love you all and hope you all have a fantastic week!
our new district t-shirts (we took a way better district pic but I'll have to send it next week)
we totally found a dinosaur this week in the wild!!
we got acaí which is awesome

Unaí - Week 3

Elivan, Arthur, Waterfall!!

Hey everyone,

Unaí is going great! We had some great success this week and we started a few new things.

First of all we started language classes this week, so I am teaching English and Elder Archila is teaching Spanish (of which I am actually learning a lot).

Let's see, our investigators are doing great. Arthur is coming to all the activities and is just awesome. He is also very talented (he is making a legitimate crossbow). His only problem is that he works every Sunday which is keeping him from going to church. But there is a good chance that he could be getting a new job here soon, so we'll see.

Our Other awesome investigator is Elivan. He has come to church the last three Sundays and is loving it. He is currently reading the Book of Mormon and thinking about baptism. Keep him in your prayers that all can go well there.

Other than that, we went to a waterfall this week, I learned how to cook strogonoff, and I love the missionaries here, we have a lot of fun.

Miss you all tons, it's good to hear from you all. Have an awesome week
