Planalto - Asa Norte - Brasilia Week 23

Baptism!! Transfers.

Lets start off with the good news, what everyone wants to hear, Antonio got baptized this week!!! Woohoo!! Ya we are really excited, we have been visiting him for a really long time.

This week was awesome, we did a lot of preparing Antonio this week, we went on an exchange with the Zone Leaders and we had an awesome Family Home Evening at Irmã Helena's house with lots of investigators who decided to attend, way awesome!!

So I got the phone call today, I am getting transferred to another area, no surprise considering I've been here for 6 months. But I am excited. Tomorrow I'll go to my new area and next week I'll let you all know where I am and how I'm doing. I'm going to miss area Planalto quite a bit. The people here are incredible, helpful and loving and I'll miss them a lot. But at the same time, I am ready to move on to another phase in the mission.

Not much more to say, shout out to my awesome cousin who is going to be serving his mission in Japan! Way awesome!

Anyway, talk to you all next week

Planalto - Asa Norte - Brasilia Week 22

This week was really just amazing for various reasons. First of all Wagner is progressing very well, he blessed the sacrament for the first time today and continues to be very excited about the church.

An investigator that we have had for a while had a major breakthrough this week, he decided after a few lessons that he wanted to be baptized!! So we are really excited and that is currently scheduled for next Sunday, pray that everything goes well with him.

Today we went to visit the tourist sites here in Brasilia with Elder Mclaws and Elder Nazaré, they are way fun. It was pretty funny as we tried to enter the Congresso Nacional. They told us four that we couldn't enter that day that they weren't doing any tours. We were sad and leaving when we found some sister missionaries also doing a tour, we told them what happened but we decided to try again. So Elder Mclaws and I saw that it was a different person in the front and we decided to only speak English and tell them that we want to take pictures, well after some pretending that we didn't understand and negotiating in English they decided to make an exception and let us all in to take pictures. So that was awesome, we got to go all over the congress building without a tour guide and take pictures, we had a good time.

Well, things are awesome, love my companion and transfers are next week, so looking forward to finding out if I'll stay in this area or not, love you all bye!!

p.s. Sorry about the lack of pictures the Lan house (internet cafe) here is just being awful this week and I can't attach even one picture without the internet dropping, so bye!!

Planalto - Asa Norte - Brasilia Week 21

This week we had interviews with President Lundgren (Mission President) which always is awesome, he talks about the work and you just leave excited to work again.

Sadly one of the coolest families ever moved from our area to the U.S. this week, it's awesome because they have been waiting for their Immigration Visas for almost a year, but sad because they were pretty awesome and helped out a ton here.

Saturday was really great as we spent the entire day doing service helping donate 400 wheelchairs to people who were in need. It was pretty cool as the Deputy of Health of the Federal District was there and the Governor. We were able to talk with tons of people, it was really cool.

Sunday was amazing, Wagner officially received the priesthood this Sunday and got his first calling in the Church of Jesus Christ. He is just loving it. He has such a strong flame to work and help out in the church and it's just been a wonderful opportunity to be here helping him.

Not much else to say, hope you all have an awesome week, love you all so much,

Elder Hyer

Planalto - Asa Norte - Brasilia Week 20

So things continue to be amazing here in the far away land of Brasil, to start off let's talk about work and how awesome it is!!

Wagner was confirmed a member this week and is progressing by leaps and bounds I've never seen someone so excited to serve in his responsibility as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This week I managed to reunite forces with the missionary who trained me, Elder Lafaiete. It was awesome to serve for the day after being separated for more than 6 months, he recently got put in as my Zone leader so it's pretty sweet.

Other than that we had a great zone activity today with ping-pong, barbecue, and card games. And to top it off my good friend Elder Deleray passed through the area and will be staying in our apartment for the night, after many months, finally, the dream team is reunited!

Anyways love you all tons,

Planalto - Asa Norte - Brasilia Week 19

Starting off with the good news, we baptized Wagner this week!! He was an awesome investigator who has been doing a lot of studying on his own and has really found that this is the truth. He shared an amazing testimony in the front of our class on Sunday and had a great baptismal service. It was a little funny that we had to do the baptism 5 times because there was always something that wouldn't go under the water (and for the baptism to be valid we know it has to be done by immersion) so we ended up baptizing him 5 times, ha ha.

I also received my new companion and since my current companion will be serving in Salt Lake in 2 weeks they put us in a trio for the next 2 weeks and it has been a blast! The new one's name is Elder K. Fernandes and he never stops smiling, is a Star Wars fan, and a hard worker.

The members this week also just killed it with missionary referrals. We had several members come to us introducing us to their friends who are interested in learning more about the Gospel and we are teaching various families at the moment which is amazing. I'm really going to miss the members here when I leave.

Other than that there's not too much else to write. We have lots of potential investigators who we hope can enter the waters of baptism in these coming weeks.

Have a good week everyone, até mais!
