Unaí - Week 4

Sweater bet, Elivan, 31 in attendance!!

Good afternoon everyone! I don't have a whole lot to talk about this week but I'll try to think of something interesting that happened.

Honestly the whole week was just normal work, I bought a new bag, we taught a bunch of people and it was good!

Saturday was annoying and hilarious. Annoying because our lunch appointment fell through and we were left scrambling trying to pull together a lunch for ourselves and we all were pretty down and annoyed. But to get ourselves excited we decided to do a bet. We played a round of cards and whoever lost had to wear a sweater in the blazing heat of Unaí for the rest of the day, my companion ended up losing and that was hilarious.

Sunday we had an attendance of 31 people! It is the most it has been in a long time. 30 was also our goal for July so we are here celebrating. Elivan is doing really well, he continues to go to church but is nervous and doesn't feel ready for baptism yet. Pray for him that he can continue progressing

I love you all and hope you all have a fantastic week!
our new district t-shirts (we took a way better district pic but I'll have to send it next week)
we totally found a dinosaur this week in the wild!!

Unaí - Week 3

Elivan, Arthur, Waterfall!!

Hey everyone,

Unaí is going great! We had some great success this week and we started a few new things.

First of all we started language classes this week, so I am teaching English and Elder Archila is teaching Spanish (of which I am actually learning a lot).

Let's see, our investigators are doing great. Arthur is coming to all the activities and is just awesome. He is also very talented (he is making a legitimate crossbow). His only problem is that he works every Sunday which is keeping him from going to church. But there is a good chance that he could be getting a new job here soon, so we'll see.

Our Other awesome investigator is Elivan. He has come to church the last three Sundays and is loving it. He is currently reading the Book of Mormon and thinking about baptism. Keep him in your prayers that all can go well there.

Other than that, we went to a waterfall this week, I learned how to cook strogonoff, and I love the missionaries here, we have a lot of fun.

Miss you all tons, it's good to hear from you all. Have an awesome week

Unaí - Week 2

Sick, More Sick, and Responsibilities

Well this week was one of the most painful weeks of my mission, and maybe my life.

Tuesday and Wednesday were both pretty normal. We visited an English class and I talked with the students there (that was pretty fun). Wednesday a gay guy was hitting on my companion really hard, it was quite hilarious.

Thursday we think we must have eaten something wrong at some point (we cant figure out what it could be) but my companion and I both got really really sick. I think I threw up 5 or 6 times, I'll spare you all of the other details, but let's just say my body was discharging anything and everything that was inside me. We ended up staying home in bed for 2 days and then on Saturday we went out to work but it was basically the dying leading the almost dead through the street and in our lessons. But we did finally get better and on Saturday afternoon we took a quick picture and walked around the car show they were having in the park next to our house.

Sunday was good. We had an awesome guy investigating the church named Elivan. He came to church and he seemed to enjoy it. Our Mission President also attended our meeting which was great. After the meeting he took Elder Archila and I aside and gave us both callings in the ward since the ward is lacking leadership at the moment. So Elder Archila is now the Branch President and I am the Branch Secretary, which basically just means I have more work to do but whatever.

Anyway, all in all things are just great, I love my companion a ton, hope you all have an awesome week

Unaí - Week 1

So things are great everyone. I would like to first of all thank everyone for the birthday wishes, they were much appreciated.

I am officially in a new area, I was a little sad to leave the amazing members of the Planalto Ward but I've been there for a while and I'm ready for my new area, which is the small branch of Unaí.

Unaí is a smallish city in the state of Minas Gerais (which means I've served in 3 different states in Brasil). The church here is very very small. In fact it's kind of like I'm back in Padre Bernardo except it's not as poor. But the interesting thing about Unai is that it's not a new area, the church has actually been established for like 12 years here, but the area never grew. We have about 10 active members and the rest of the people at church are who we manage to bring. It's not a very high baptizing area, but we're pretty excited to get to work.

My companion's name is Elder Chaucoski, he is Brasilian but the name is polish. He is an amazing guy, teaches really well, and we are having a blast together. This area also has 6 missionaries. Other than my companion and I we have Elder Lucas (Brasil), Elder Archila (Columbia), Sister Heperi (New Zealand, the same sister I served with in Padre Bernardo), and a newbie sister M. De Souza (Brasil)

Anyway things here are great, we cook for ourselves pretty much every day because there isn't anyone to give us food :(. But ya it's fun to cook for ourselves.

Love you all so much, hope you all have a wonderful week. Abraço. Tchau.
