Samambaia - Week 6

Baptism!!! Last Transfer!!

Well everybody one more transfer comes to an end and I have officially entered my final transfer here in the mission. I stayed as expected with my companion and in our house only Umbellino was transferred.

We had an epic transfer end with the baptism of João-Carlos which was very special. He had to stop smoking this week which he managed to do. He is actually the husband of one of Archila´s recent converts here in Samambaia about a year ago, so that was neat. Next step, temple!

Other than that it's been raining quite a bit. I only have 6 weeks left, and I'm excited to be in my last transfer.

Love you guys a ton!!! Have a great week,

Samambaia - Week 5

1/16/17

João-Carlos, Soccer, Rain

Well the rain has finally started pouring down on a regular basis which I am surprisingly happy about because at least there isn't blistering sun!

João-Carlos is epic, he is the husband of a recent convert and they have 2 kids. Anyways, he has had a smoking problem which is why he never got baptized. He's been smoking like 35-40 per day. This week we had a super spiritual lesson with him and we set goals. He smoked 10 cigarettes yesterday and by Tuesday our goal is to have him completely stopped. He is supposed to get baptized this coming Sunday. I'm super excited!!!!!!!

Other than that I've been playing a lot of Soccer on Mondays and my goalie skills are improving (I'm the goalie because I'm white). It was pretty funny when we were choosing teams and positions they just straight up said "white skin, blue eyes, can you play goalie?" hahaha little did they know I am a ninja ball stopper. Ok ya that's enough pride. Have a great week everyone, tchau!

No, this is not me.

Samambaia - Week 4

1/9/17

So this last week was basically just normal. Recently we have had lots of really great member teaching experiences where members either give us references or they come to our appointments with us and its been really good.

Our investigator Edivan is progressing a lot. He came to church and is super excited about baptism but he needs to get married first, so we're working on that.

Other than that, meu companheiro is good, I'm good, the mission is good, and I know this is incredibly short but there just isn't a whole lot to say.

But I love you all a ton, hope you all have an amazing week

Samambaia - Week 3

01/02/17

Ok, this week was rough, New Years is like bigger than Christmas here in Brasil. So with all the parties and that stuff, this week was pretty rough on missionary work.

One cool experience that we had was during lunch at a members house, we were sharing a message with the family and gave a bible story about the Sabbath day and inviting others to participate in this weekly spiritual "feast". At the end we asked if they knew anyone they could invite and they ended up promising and bringing a relative of their's who isn't a member. So we are going to try to keep him coming, he's a good guy.

Other than that I ate like a lot of food this week, barbecue (brasilian style), dessert, rice and beans, stuff like that, it was quite delicous.

This may sound super trunky but I only have 60 days until I'm home (yes I counted). It's a pretty weird feeling, but I've still got 2 months to find the Lord's prepared children who are ready to receive the gospel.

Love ya'll

Samambaia - Week 2

12/26/16
Just a quick email this week, things were busy and fun with Christmas being this week. I actually missed the never-ending Christmas music that plays in the U.S. and want a cold Christmas again, but I had a great time.

The internet is really slow this week so I think I'll end up having to send pictures next week unless it picks up.

Hopefully you all had a great Christmas with your families. It's hard to believe, but I only have 9 more weeks until I come home.

Things are great here in Brasil and the work of the Lord is also progressing well.

Have a great week,

Elder Hyer
